Keep estimates, quotations, invoices and payments distinct

One order can contain several amounts for the same proposed work. Adding them all would count the same obligation repeatedly and misstate cash expenditure.

Follow the record

Review CD-1069. Its sample amounts are CAD 140 estimated, CAD 150 quoted, CAD 150 invoiced and CAD 18.50 paid. Reports keep the status buckets separate. A received quotation needs its original source; a payment needs separate evidence. These examples never become Lab 2 Dent company expenses.

Interpret the result

Ask which amount is supported as paid and what document would be needed in an actual transaction. A price proposal, invoice and remittance answer different questions. The example figures demonstrate classification, not a supplier commitment or company cash balance.
